Ok that makes sense.. Never had much information about that.. So it is either pump or wiring..

Isn't there a relay for fuel pump? Check fuse, and swap the relay with another and see if that works. Easy check.

Well, it was indeed the fuel pump! I got a new carter from motion auto for $202 and slapped her in there and she fired right up. While I had the lift I put in a new tranny filter too. Between those two things I can't believe the difference it's made in lowend and just sheer response! I bought the truck about 6 months ago and it's like a whole new truck now. Is there anything you guys would recommend doing or checking after driving on a weak fuel pump for who knows how long?

Just make sure there aren't any fuel leaks. Aside from that, should be golden.

Weak spark will keep it from firing. Are the plugs wet??

Fix the ground, see if that gives you better spark.

From a previous thread, I learned that a marginal crank sensor can ALSO give you a weak spark, and not always consistently. (consistently on individual cylinders, but, its not an all-or-nothing affair) Might wanna look at the coil as well.

Yes.....but if you know this is smoking, wouldn't it be a natural instinct to fix that......before the truck catches on fire?
