98 Ram 1500 won't start, has spark.
Well, it was indeed the fuel pump! I got a new carter from motion auto for $202 and slapped her in there and she fired right up. While I had the lift I put in a new tranny filter too. Between those two things I can't believe the difference it's made in lowend and just sheer response! I bought the truck about 6 months ago and it's like a whole new truck now. Is there anything you guys would recommend doing or checking after driving on a weak fuel pump for who knows how long?
I got a 98 2500 reg cab with a custom flatbed it has the 5.9l gas and I was driving it everyday parked it came back an hour later it wouldn't start never did it before I assumed crank sensor so put a new 1 on checked spark it has spark but seems weak I got another 01 2500 ext cab same motor checked spark on it it seems like its blue and sparking fast this 1 is orange and slow my buddy said the ground from motor to firewal was smoking could a bad ground cause the weak spark and stop truck from running
Weak spark will keep it from firing. Are the plugs wet??
Fix the ground, see if that gives you better spark.
From a previous thread, I learned that a marginal crank sensor can ALSO give you a weak spark, and not always consistently. (consistently on individual cylinders, but, its not an all-or-nothing affair) Might wanna look at the coil as well.

Yes.....but if you know this is smoking, wouldn't it be a natural instinct to fix that......before the truck catches on fire?
