It may or may not help but remove the plunger switch from the cad and see what happens it could be a stuck plunger. If you want to remove the cad altogether put in a one piece shaft I think there is a F**d shaft that will work for this job.

as a temp fix, what about gently getting full engage of the collar, and then maybe using small hose clamps or other spacers on the cad shaft to hold the fork in an engaged postion ?

what about stacking several clamps or spacers all the way left to right to form a solid block between the fork and something solid on passenger side.

Just off the top of my head here, remove the switch, drill a hole in the fork, install a long bolt and nut so it holds the collar over, plug the switch hole in any way you can, rtv, brass plug also drilled for the bolt. Just a idea not sure if it could be done as I don't have a cad in my hands.

^ good call. the switch hole likely aligns with the existing fork shaft hole and provides an anchor point. the only trick will be establishing the left/right position so the fork aligns with the collar.

test carefully....

Permalock from Alloy posted above for about $50. that's some more affordable but still a little overpriced.
