Default change engine & trans

Hey guys I have a 96 ram 1500 with 480kms but it still runs like a ram but was thinking on either puttng in replacement used 5.2 engine w/trans with 200-300 kms due to the fact this baby has no rust anywhere. But was also thinking would a 5.7L fit in this truck due to this is a lg truck full size 8ft box club cab and just thought maybe I would fine a 5.7 to put in this instead.

Quick question, do you mean the Magnum 5.9L 360, or the Hemi 5.7L from a later model?

The 360 swap would be fast and relatively easy. The later model Hemi would not only be much more difficult but it would be on a whole new level...no longer just a swap but a complete modification of almost every system that connects the drive train to the truck.

Thanks sooper ya this truck for a 96 is in great shape and because I just fixed 98 dakota up to almost new state and drove it for 2 yrs and pulled out in front of a lady and yes I'm still pissed that I did that to my self but anyways this truck 96 ram has a 5.2 with 480kms but body has no rust so I was thinking on either getting another 5.2 with 200-3 kms with trans or the 5.7 not sure yet but thanks for info though. But anyways I can't seem too find this switch on the emergency pedal because my light come on 3-4 sec after start and I posted it on here and they said there is a switch on the top of pedal.

You said the Brake light is illuminating a few seconds after you start the vehicle?

I don't think it's the pedal switch. It would be on immediately, not after a few seconds.

I suspect air trapped in a line or low brake fluid level. If you haven't already checked your brake fluid level I would suggest that. Then, perform a few hard slam full lock brake stops and see if that dislodges any trapped air bubbles.

Thanks dude I'll that those and thanks for engine tip with 480 but still runs good like a dodge but with the Canadian etest these days and the body in great shape I don't have a lot in her so I thought finding another motor an trans around 2-300kms would be good.

Thanks

Not to be rude, but try to use a little more punctuation. It makes a post easier to read and understand. Anyway, is the only reason for wanting to replace the engine because of the high kilometer-age (if that's a word). As Sooper said another 5.2 Magnum would be simple and easy to do. Swapping up to a 5.9 Magnum would be just as simple and easy except the computer would have to be changed (or maybe just flashed, not 100% on that one). The 5.7 is a Hemi not a Magnum and is 3rd and 4th generation motor, and isn't directly compatible with our 2nd gen trucks. Installing a 5.7 Hemi would require quite a bit of modifications.

Technically, the Hemi IS a Magnum, just not in the sense we think of.

You would be far better served in getting a decent 360, doing some internal work, getting the PCM reflashed, and dropping that in. More than enough power for daily work.

I knew I was gonna catch grief for that lol. I realize that but for sake of this post I labeled them as two different classifications of motor.
