Default Fast clutch engagement after replacement

I just finished replacing my clutch on my 1994 Ram 1500 5-speed NV3500.

All looks to be working really good, but the clutch seems to engage almost immediately after the pedal is released from the floor. It doesn't feel soft or anything just seems to engage really fast....Is there any adjustment that can be made??

I did notice that my slave cylinder seems to be loose...not the flange that mounts to the tranny, but the cylinder itself. Is this normal??

Thx for the help...

I don't know about being loose, but when I changed mine, it took a second bleed to get a good engagement point (not too low)... after that it took about a week to bed in and feel as smooth as it did before.

Sounds like you need to bleed your clutch assembly. These systems dont self-bleed very well and there is no bleeder valve. You will need to remove the master and slave assembly, hang your master cylinder higher than the slave in a way that gets the line in a constant uphill direction so the air bubbles can rise. Then work the piston on your slave cylinder slowly 'till bubbles quit coming out of the reservoir. I did mine this morning, outside in the wind and cold. From start to finish took me less than half an hour. I do mine often though, because I have a leak in my system somewhere.

Ok, thx guys..

My clutch had 140K miles on it, so it very well might be that I don't know how it is "suppose" to feel.

I will be doing other work on it shortly, and taking the master and slave out, doesn't seem very hard....

I was just concerned about the slave being loose on the mounting bolts. Maybe I will get my wife to press it and make sure it is not coming apart....

Don't believe it should be loose...
