Fuel line replacement help..
On my 96 ram the fuel line busted(rusted) and sprayed fuel all over my nice fresh painted frame.. My question is can I just use rubber fuel hose and clamps? Or where can I get the actual replacement line? The Line in question goes from the pump to basically the front of the cab along frame rail.( connector to connector) Thanks for any help...
Rubber hose could be a temporary fix, but I would not recommend it for the long run. Too easily damaged. Imagine driving down the road at 70 mph and running over something that flies up and punctures the line, then gas spraying all over your hot exhaust system.
Ok thank you, I couldn't find the factory replacement And I wasn't sure the hose clamps would hold(fuel pressure). I guess what's throwing me off is the the special ends at the fuel pump and on the front side where the rubber/plastic line meets the metal line. Doing this on a budget but I want it done safe and correct.
Get some steel/stainless steel line the right diameter, and some flare nuts. Pick up a flaring tool. Make your own replacement line. If necessary, you can get the quick-connects from the Help section of the parts store. Probably end up being cheaper than trying to buy a line from the dealer......
So a flairing tool will make the impression in the steel line that the nylon retaining end will snap on to for the front part of the line? But what about the side that goes into the pump it looks like the last 6-8" is nylon that is "factory" crimped on the steel line? Or is that what the flare nuts are for?

Um, My truck has stainless steel fuel lines from the tank up to the fuel rails, it's how it was when I got it. Is this not factory?
