Default 98 Ram 1500 318, transmission trouble. *NEW TO DF*

Issue I am having;
Transmission shifts to 2nd, while in 2nd I need to gas it, foot off the gas then back on. I can get it to shift into third but I need a heavy foot to keep going. If I stay at a normal speed it will drop back to 2nd and the rpms shoot up.
The truck has 138xxx I bought it at 110xxx, and im not sure when the last fluid change has been or filter.
Reading a few forums, I've read a bit about speed sensor, governer pressure sensor abd solenoid. Any input is helpful.
Thank you for your time!

Is your check engine light on? If so have it checked and see what code comes up...I just had my tranny rebuilt a few days ago. Mine was shifting really hard into 2nd and shook like crazy when climbing up hill. Changed my fluid but not my filter and it fixed the problem......for three days! Your problens sound similar to mine. I would have it checked by a pro. Hope this helps.

Start with the basics. Check the fluid in neutral with fluid warm. See if fluid smells burned. Check TPS and make sure it reads good. Also check the asjustment on the Throttle Valve cable.

Post back with results and we can start with a sytematic methodolgy to troubleshoot.
