Default Misfire Woes

Alright as of recently (past 3-4 weeks) my 97 ram 5.2 would misfire. There is no check engine light but I can feel the misfires and read them with the obd2 scanner.

The codes I get are Po300, 303, 304, and 308.

The truck does not do it every time I drive it, but it seems to occur on the first drive of the day and usually once the truck warms up the misses stop.

The missiles only occur under light throttle, so if you accelerating at a good pace it doesn't miss.

I checked the spark plugs and they look clean and good just like the other cylinders.

I just don't understand why it only happens sometimes and at light accelerations

Thanks
JR

I forgot to mention that the truck always starts right up and idles like a dream.

Comp test or leak-down test time. Post the results when you get them.

I won't have access to the equipment for a couple weeks.

Would poor compression in the cylinder affect the idle as well as affect the truck the whole time instead of just randomly

It can and does cause a range of problems, which is why it was recommended. And I am too old and lazy to look up what the codes mean.....

That many misfiores and locations - yeah. Compression and leakdown test in order. It can vary by engine temp and other variables as cracks tend to open as they heat, etc.

General rule of thumb is any p300 codes are misfires.. Mostly all makes and models..

Edit: Agree with everything said so far. Post up your results

Have you checked/replaced your distributor cap? Even though that the truck starts well, you could still have a cracked cap.

i have found that dodge trucks with a disturber next to the fire wall tend to collect moistener in the cap. it has a vent hole that should plugged with JB-weld. it took me 5 years to figure that out. how ever if some systems run vacuum through the cap dont plug them.
