Default Lower Radiator Hose

I have the 5.2L. I was parked and noticed coolant leaking. The lower radiator hose was soaked up to the clamp. I had this happen once before and replaced the hose and clamp. Even after tightening it down a little more than normal, it still leaked after 300 miles. Has anyone else experienced this?

Look at the neck where the hose is supposed to seal to the radiator, if it is pitted, or otherwise deformed, gonna have to do something about that.

And of course, merely checking it is going to require draining the radiator..... sorry 'bout that.

Sorry I forgot to mention. It's at the water pump not the radiator.

Same thing applies..... any dirt, distortion, or cracks there will give you a leak. What kind of clamp are you using?

It wraps around and you tighten with a screwdriver. Maybe I should replace the water pump? It was changed at 75,000. I'm at 151,000.

Make sure that is where the leak is coming from before replacing..... Hose isn't split is it?

I'll be able to get a better look tomorow, but the hose is brand new. The drip was right above it and the hose was wet. Could have been the water pump finally going out?

Maybe I should let the truck warm up and not floor it even when it's hot.

Get a cooling system pressure tester, pump it up to 16 pounds, and then go a-lookin' for the leak. Should make it easy to find.
