Default Opinions on upholstry materials and cleaning?

The truck I just bought has a horrible interior. I'm definitely going to have to rip out the carpet and the headliner and replace them.
I was considering just putting down rubber instead of carpet so that it's easier to clean. Someone told me it would be fairly cheap to simply rip out the carpet and put down a few layers of liquid bed coating.

Anyone have any experience/thoughts on the rubber or the bed coating?

Also, in the meantime, what's the best chemical to clean the upholstery? It smells sorta like wet dog and mildew and it's driving me crazy.

I don't have a smell issue in my truck, but I too am going to replace the carpet with an OEM rubber liner. You can get them at LMCtruck. As far as the seats go , can you say Febreeze?
