Default Thought on 318 rebuild?

I am looking to rebuild my 1999 5.2 318? I have never looked into rebuilding motors and need something to do with my time rather than just replace. Any thoughts on what rebuild kits to use? and which company to buy them from?

What kind of rebuild are you thinking of going with? Looking for big power or a good fresh stock-ish engine?

have you ever rebuilt a motor? these motors are simple, but its still a pretty big task if you have little mechanical experience.

Summit has a good rebuilt kit, ill see if i can find the part#

You know, Moochoff didn't rebuild his engine, he flat out REPLACED it with a 4BT Cummins.

And he started out with little experience. You just have to have the courage and drive to do it. Hell, if I wanted to, I could yank the engine on my 76 and freshen it up if I wanted to.

Of course you would say that, being as you are in the middle of the same thing. Lol... Alright... I am too, so I guess that means I'm in agreement with ya. Go for it... 5.9 swap all the way. Cheaper and more rewarding than rebuilding a 5.2

I have torn down a Cummins ISX and put back together. I am a diesel mechanic on tractor trailer units. I haven't messed with gas engines much. I am just looking to get back to stock maybe a little bit more.

Just a simple rebuild. Nothing special. Want to get back to stockish, maybe a little more.
