got it all back together, drained rest out of radiator, flushed plain water through it...drained it, filled with pure antifreeze and capped it, took it for a test drive first time and it runs great. Only thing is temp gauge is only at 145-150 fish with a 195 stat.....

I probably should refrain from making the statement that is wildly running through my mind............

So you don't know that antifreeze is meant to be diluted 50/50 with water.....

Sorry forgot to mention I ran it with plain water with engine running then drained out water..just with petcock on bottom of rad. Only got about 2.5 gals out. Then filled rest with pure antifreeze. Floated 4 ***** on fluid test. Still ran at 150ish. T-stat is suppose to open at 195...took rad cap off and made sure it was opening by watching fluid go down which it did. So yes I know its supposed to be 50/50. But even if I had 70/30, that shouldnt make it run any cooler should it? Oh yea, my heat works great to. Put a new rad hose on top also, didn't seem to have that much pressure when hot, hit it with temp gauge and it said 156

Cooling system holds about 5 gallons, so you are prtty good there. Make sure you burp the cooling system to make sure you get all the air out.

Water/coolant ratio just effects the freezing point and boilng point of the system. Not the temp it runs. Also, the antifreeze acts as a water pump lubricant and corroision inhibitor.

Yea I could hear air in the lines on the initial test drive. I will burp it tomorow, I might drain some of the coolant and add more water. Could it be faulty t-stat? It used to run just below 210 on the temp gauge. Put new t-stat that came with Hughes kit and now its running right at about halfway between the 130 and 210 mark. 150ish . What else would make it run colder ?

Half way between 103 and 210 would be 170 degrees. Gauges are not that accurate. Burp it and see if it changes. But 170 is still pretty cool..What temp stat do you have in it? If stat is stuck open, that would make it run cool. A fail safe stat is designed to stay open if it fails.

The stat is the one that comes with the Hughes plenum kit...Which read 195.

Well it ended up being the pos thermostat Hughes sent me. Pulled it out and tested in water and it fully opened at 140ish so I put the old one back in and its where it should be.
