My 5.9L has flat top pistons. I'm beginning to wonder what REALLY has been done to this truck.

Scrape the carbon off of them and see if they have .030 stamped on them.

Are you certain that someone didnt swap a 5.2 in there? I know you did a trans swap, and I assume you did a new flywheel balanced for a 5.9... Then almost immediatly afterwords, had bearing failure. If you have flat top pistons, I am fairly certain it has to be a 5.2. Does your harmonic balancer have a notch in it? You probably already know this, but 5.9's have a notch and 5.2s dont.

This is what a flat top 5.2 piston looks like. (Found this one online)

This is what a dished 5.9 piston looks like. (Took pic of engine in my basement.)

Ahh. I do have dished then. Thanks Scooter78. I was thinking of a different sort of dished piston - a concave style I'd seen before. Oh well I've got the right pistons then. RR, go ahead and call it BS - I'm with you

Ahhh. No problem, buddy. I'll bet you were thinking of pistons with valve reliefs cut in them.
