Default Brake leak

I'm in the process of replacing the LF brake caliper. When the brake line is reconnected to the caliper, there is a fluid leak from behind the square connector. In the center of the connector and on the caliper, there is a shallow circular indentation, like something that could possibly hold a thin washer. However I don't recall a washer being there when I disassembled it. Can anyone tell me if perhaps there is supposed to be a washer there?

Thanks,

Problem solved.... For anyone else wondering, there are two (brass?) washers, that sit on either side of the square connector. I found the other one in the oil pan I was using to catch brake fluid.

I think you are right about the washers being brass. On oil pans and trans fluid pans, they are usually copper, but in brake line fittings, they tend to be brass from what I seem to recall.

Soft copper or brass usually. That way they can deform a bit when you tighten them down, so they seal nicely.
