oil pan pick uptube

check for the inspection cover not being hooked into the oil pan lip correctly, and the flexplate hitting it.

i made that mistake. scared the **** out of me.

do you have a helper to start the engine, or turn the starter while you get under it?
if not, remove the spark plugs and turn the engine with a socket on the big crank bolt. 1-1/4 in.

yes i have oil pressure. I have to drop the pan again. FML

I bet it is the inspection plate. I had dinted mine in when I changed the pump. Rattled something fierce. I thought my truck was gonna explode

Also if everything checks out check your crank pulley the balancer might have broke off the back and it bouncing around the pully/shaft. It has happened on my truck. Would just be a coincidence since you just had the pan off but is another suggestion while your under there.

OK the pickup tube wasn't in its notch in the oil pan. was getting nicked.
