No, the tranny internals are completely different as far as OD goes. You need a 46rh, simple as that. Anything else and it's just going to be more money and time spent. Some early 96's had an RH in them, and unless you can confirm that, I'd say you are not going to make it work. Did the tranny from your friends truck actually come out of his truck and was working? If so, ask him to get one of these(which btw, you should have too).

Well got a pickle now guys how do I know if tranny is a 96 it says 95 I got from friend but plugs are.identical so does that mean there was a 46re in 95 or what
