Welcome to DF. Here's a link for checking the CAD system. I'm also renaming your thread title to "4x4 problem" . In the future please post a title connected to your issue. So anyone that does a search for the same problem will find it. Thanks.

follow the vac lines from the cad to the hard lines, and across the transmission cross member to the t-case. you'll likely find a break. just splice it with a piece of hose for a quick fix.

if no break, locate the big rubber plug on top of the t-case. remove it by sliding it off. its key'ed, so it only fits on one way.

with engine running, check for vac at that connector on the hose from the engine. the vac source for that hose is on the passenger side intake manifold.

once you have vac there, test that vac is switched between the 2 lines going to the cad. vac on one in 2wd, vac on the other in 4wd. that t-case switch is replaceable if that's your problem.

Pulling actuator off, sliding locking collar over and bolting actuator back on.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be that both the lines were rusted so bad that it caused the lines to be clogged. I just replaced the lines and poof I have four wheel drive again.

The Posi-Lok kit is oh so nice to have if you got an extra ~$170 to spend on it, takes just a couple hours to install and will never be without 4x4 again. I love mine to say the least.

I've got mine sitting in the shed just waiting for the truck to come back from the shop. I can't wait!

I was going to buy the kit, but when I first worked on the four wheel drive, I thought it was only the actuator that was bad because it had holes in it from the rust. I ended up buying a new one because it was cheaper than the kit. After the install, I then realized that it was bad lines too.

Go figure. haha I should have remembered its never just ONE thing thats broken!
