Default crank sensor problem

Last week, I backed out, put the truck in drive, and my truck just shut down. It had no spark. I'm not a great mechanic, so I replaced a few things. Crank sensor, cam sensor, and the ignition coil. As it turned out, the ignition coil was the problem. It finally cranked, but with a new problem. I was hearing a clicking sound coming from the area of the crank sensor, like something was hitting it. So I thought I would tighten the bolts down a bit more. Then I tried to crank it, and failed. My coil is working. But it seems like I am back to the start. It's doing the same thing. Turning over, but will not start. What did I do wrong????

Sometime aftermarket sensors are incorrect. Whether it be bolt pattern, length, width, etc. Try putting your original crank sensor back in and see if it helps.

BTW, this should be in the "Tech" section.

Except with a better thread title. I'll name it to whatever the OP wants, like "crank sensor problem" maybe. And please, no more "please help" thread titles. Thanks and welcome to DF

Sorry if I posted in the wrong section. I'm a little new to this. I did put the old sensor in and I got the same result.

Precisely why we created this thread....for new folks....no one ever reads it though....but it sums up posting rules in a few short sentences.

The old sensor is probably no good also. So you might need a new one. Did you compare the length of the OEM one you took out with the new one you took out? And what did the new one you took out look like on the bottom?

where did you get the sensor? i just bought one from advance, and it was a dud right out of the box.

go with either standard motor products, delphi, or oem.
