Default Thermostat housing?

Cast aluminium or steel?

Is there a preference... benefits/disadvantages of each?

Thanks

Either will work. OEM is cast aluminum I think.

the stock one is steel. i recall grinding the "front" tab off and it was stamped/drawn steel, not aluminum. steel would be cheaper.

as said, either will work.

You are correct. As soon as you referenced the tab, I remembered. I have pulled too many off too many vehicles since I had it off the Ram about a year ago or so.
