Default battery

I have a 2001 dodge 1500 I belive there is a short somewhere the battery goes dead in one day When I hook the battery up there is no spark. I checked the volts last night and it read 11 volts this morning it read 5 any Idea where to look Thanks

I'd guess either your battery is toast or you have a draw somewhere...

There was a video posted by dhvaughan on how to test the battery in cases like this, can't remember which thread though....

How old is the battery? If fairly new
put a charger on your battery till it gets to full charge, leave truck battery cables unhooked then leave it overnight and again test voltage the next day, if you have significant drop in voltage you have a bad battery if not you have a parasite in the truck somewhere. If you have access to a load tester that would be nice to check also.
