Issues with the 2001 ram van 1500
Looking for 2001 ram van 1500 information.
I got another vehicle to tow our 73 440 dart with. 16' dual axle equipment trailer, also hauls a 464 intl diesel utility tractor
Is a 2001 van all metric or is it still sae?
Is there any aluminum on the 5.9? IE do I need special coolant mixes.
Are the dash gauges actually gauges and not meter driven idiot lights like the 1998 ford Expedition I dumped.
I did not realize the van was a unibody until I had already purchased it, oh well....
Is this unibody a rust bucket if it comes from Indiana????
According to the book it will tow 8200# with a 127" WB 5.9 and a 9.25 3.55 rear end.
Sucker already has 150,000 miles... what will be the first thing to go bad?? The 4 od tranny an issue? Currently starts and runs fine with good power.
Last dodge truck I had was an 84 ramcharger 318 with a carb, never a non predictable problem.

You might an SAE sized nut or bolt on there somwhere. I've encountered mostly (if not all) Metric though.
I think the intake is aluminum, that's about it.
Dash gauges aren't very reliable.
Is Indiana a salty state?
First thing to go bad is a toss up. Just have to wait and see what goes first

The Ram vans are body on frame.
I would not recommend one, they are HUGE gas suckers. Even worse then the Ram pickups due to their massiveness.
If you were to tow with it, drop some 4.10's in it if you can. That would be your best bet.
