Does any one know where there are some good off road trails in Southern tx or the Hill country? I have lived in Austin for about 5 years now and with the few exceptions of being able to cross some of my friends ranches I cant seem to find any BLM land or other areas that allow 4x4ing.All land has locked gates on it. I was originally from NM where there is a ton of places to go. Same in southern Colorado the Back hill trails to Lime creek, And dead mans Gultch above Silverton are some of my favorites. Enough about areas too far to have a weekend outting too. Please post some good 4X4ing places in southern Tx.

I think your best bet is to find a local club.
Somehow there is always a member whose family has an oil lease with good trails.
