plenum gasket
can anyone tell me how long it will take to swap plenum gaskets. my truck makes a really loud pinging noise especially when i pull my boat. it's making me nervous and i'm almost positive that's what it is. i have experience working with motors except the easy carberated ones like chevy 350. i've pulled intake manifolds. but i hate computers in cars these days so will it still be simple. and where can i find the best aftermarked gasket for my 2000 dodge ram 5.9 liter. thanks for the help

RE: plenum gasket
It took me about 5 hours taking my time. I replaced mine with the APS pan and gasket set and was very impressed with the results.

If you've done a chevy, then the dodge should be a piece of cake... here's a thread from the DIY forum that can help...

RE: plenum gasket
I just completed a top end overhaul on my 98 Ram 1500 with the 5.9
The Plenum Gasket is pretty easy to do, IF that is all you are going to go after. Just make sure you follow the torque specs and sequences. The intake manifold bolts were tightened to IN-LB, not FT-LB as on the Chevys (I've done GM's too!).
Also, the stock gasket material, at least on my 98, had to be soaked in parts cleaner, scraped, then the contact areas buffed, to get it all off.
