if you plan to keep the truck, see if either one has a lifetime warranty. i replaced mine the first time about 5 years ago. it lasted about 5 years and then broke.

Why Dayco? I see that it's favored, but why? What makes it better then the Dorman or an OE one?

I am not sure who manufactures these for Doorman. I have used Dayco (in fact installed one on step son's Taurus about 2 weeks ago). Never had a problem. Price is decent, and usually a rebate offer to boot. One from dealer is probably more expensive, but for me, a trip to dealer is about 30 miles each way. I can buy the Dayco local.

Dayco. I replaced worn out tensioner on my Cummins with Dayco, and afterwards when I was cleaning out the workdesk there was also OE tensioner from Scania truck. It looked a lot like Dayco tensioner, and actually it was! There was a Dayco logo on a exact same location as on the one I bought from Rockauto, only difference was that spring tension was on the opposite direction, and it had Scania text cast on it.

Dayco all the way. I bought a doorman and it squealed right out of the box.
