Default new 2wd front bearing/hub play

i replaced my front bearings/hubs about a year ago, I noticed my front tire wearing funny a couple weeks ago so i jacked it up and grabbed the passenger tire and it had play when i moved it top to bottom so i bought a new bearing and its doing same thing. im wondering if its the spindle or another bad bearing ? both sides move like this.

It will depend on where it's moving.
Could also be bad ball joints.

I recently had to have my passenger side bearings (hub assembly on mine) replaced. Mech showed me the play, with the lug nuts fully tightened he could pretty much rotate the tire/wheel whichever way he wanted to.

I'm thinkin' up/down play could be ball joints.

im sure its in the bearing because i put a chisel between the top of hub and and the spindle and the movement/clunk goes away. im just caught off guard about havin a bad bearing out of the box and the pair replaced a year ago go bad also after only 5k miles and lesss then a year, althoug those were 2 for $80. i noticed befor i even put the hub on the bearing seemed very lose in the hub but figured the 2 would tighten up once i torqued down the spindle nut and it did but I was left with a tiny bit of play still

What did you buy?

Mech told me I needed bearings, so I went off to the parts store, and ended up with a new hub assembly. Some $120 later.....

was ebay too, the one from today was from autozone. iirc first time i did them the spindle nut had to draw it in since it was alittle tight and today the new slid right on and off and was not tight like the last but im not 100% sure about how tight the last one went on.

Are you tightening the spindle nuts with a torque wrench to the proper specification?

+1. Check torque specs and tighten accordingly!

got new hub again torqued to 185 and still same a barely noticable movement top to bottom and side to side. and again i put chissel behind top of hub between hib and spindle and movements gone. could these possibly have tiny amount of play normally, are these autozone hubs not spec'd properly or do i need spindles?
