If that truck is from BC either it's been painted frame wise or never seen winter roads. Where is this truck?

Yeah, unless the plenum is blown and it has 3.55 gears

If it has an aftermarket intake, or 4.56's, it will be fine.

I am three hrs north of Penticton in the mouse. All I can say is check it over top to bottom. You have a friend that does trannys and you sound like you can handle the plenum thing, then its up to you if you change gears or upgrade to Dana 60/70 diff's. Q are you ready for a mpg change? Is your pocketbook? Has the truck had a VI (vehicle inspection) lately? If not you might want to get him to do one.

Edit; If you like I can come down there on Monday and have a look at it with you.

Edit 2; You won't see mine muddy or dirty either, that means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Not saying he does abuze it just pointing something out thats all.

My theory is that if you see a truck that you know has been took off road or through mud, yet you never see it all dirty and nasty, it's probably been took care of fairly well.

I know some people that off road/mud in their trucks and NEVER wash them, rinse the mud off the frame/wheels, etc....

I've got a 400 and by my research the blocks are actually more stout than that of the 440 and they have a larger bore, but a shorter stroke.

A 400 stroker I've read is kinda nice.
