Default Trans Temp Light and OD off

Yesterday I replaced the two shift sensors in my 98 1500 with a 46re trans and immediately the transmission temp light and the od off light came on. I got the parts from the dodge dealer using my vin so I would assume that they are the right ones. they did correct the shifting though as before the truck even struggled to get out of first gear. Can any one help me solve my issue please.

Recheck the 8 pin connector on the trans, make sure it is plugged in nice and tight. Can you post the part numbers the dealer sold you?

It's possible you disturbed the wiring for the trans temp sensor...(located in the same aluminum block as the governor pressure solenoid.) I did that a while back and ended up getting the whole internal harness to fix it.

Need to know which "shift sensors" were replaced, for sure. If you replaced the gov solenoid and gov pressure switch/transducer only. I'd take the pan back off and make sure the plug is in all the way on the transducer/switch. Would also be a good time to install a tranny drain plug. And remove the negative battery cable first, before tearing in to it again. That will reset the pcm while you do the work. Should be disconnected anyway before replacing or cleaning any sensors.
