Default V10 timing chain cover part numbers

I have a 1997 Ram 2500 (manuf. 4/97) and I need a new timing chain cover - V10. The dealer shows the part number for the 97 is 53020971AB but it is discontinued. The part number for the 98 is 53020971AF and is still available. The dealer database did not show they were interchangeable. Is anyone familiar with this? Any idea what the difference is between the AB and the AF?

The part number casted on my cover is 53006826AB which does not show up in the dealer database. Will I need to find a used cover or will the one for the 98 work? Any other options?

Thanks....

after a quick talk with uncle google.. Both of the part numbers you got from dodge use the same gasket and all the pictures of the two i could find match yours, along with several Ebay sellers selling your casting number part saying it should fit every V10 for that year.

long story short.. yes i think it will work fine.
