Default TV cable and plug wire routing questions

Hey everyone, couple items here. Today I changed my thermostat out, success. I wanted to adjust my TV cable for later shifts. I got to looking at it and my cable appeared tight, but when touching it it will move up and down a tiny bit like it's loose. Is it supposed to be tight like a guitar wire or what? I have a pic of it down on the transmission and up by the TB. My question lies in the picture. Forgive me for lack of correct terms, but you see where the cable works the valve thing that goes into the rubber boot, where half of it is shiny and the other half is dirty and dull? sort of like a hydraulic cylinder on equipment? Ok well when working that manually by hand, I can work it to where all the shiny part goes into the rubber boot just like it would when driving, BUT I can push the dull part in further by about 1/4 inch (apparentely it never gets that far even at WOT). Hope that makes sense. Would that indicate an adjustment is needed? I also got a picture of up by the TB

Next question, when routing the spark plug wires does the coil wire need to be attached to wire clips when routed along the fuel injector harness or can it just lay in there freely problem free? Will it melt from the heat while lying there? I looked at the TSB for it and it said get 1 wire clips when routing that coil wire. Mines a wiring mess currently. Thanks guys.

The lever on the side of the trans. that the cable connects to has a return spring. You want to adjust all of the slack out of the cable at the TB, but not so tight that you actually pull the lever on the trans. Pull the cable by the TB, you can feel the spring.
My coil wire is just laying on top of the head by the valve cover with no problems. Not any heat to speak of.
