Default 96 Ram Heater

I have a problem and have checked out the problems I could find on the net and still can not see how to fix it
I do not have heat .. the truck will not get over 150 deg at the most ... the fluid is full ... in the radiator ... then after that I make sure the water line is correct in the overflow tank
now as I read the heat from both of the lines should heating up the same ... well they never really heat up at all
now it also says on the passenger side it will have a puddle of antifreeze ... but it is wet but does not have the smell or the oily feel ... but it is wet ... so I watched for over a hr and not a drop comes down to the floor or anything under the dash is wet ... it also says that the heater core is on the drivers side and you have to remove almost everything to get at the core from removing the dash to the steering wheel shaft just to get to the easy to open side of the box to remove the core ... then they also said it may not be that ... but some sort of motor for a door may be causing the problem .. again I did not see any problems there
So with all that checked and not knowing where the water is coming from ..... unless it is from around the seals of the cab lights and that I have seen being done with a water hose run over the top of the truck .... fixed it once .... but it may have come back again because of the heat where I live and would dry out the soft caulking seal ... did not want to use rtv to seal down the lenses .. one is that if I had to change out a light it would be hard to remove them or if I wanted to upgrade them to LED with a different color it would cause problem with the paint
So any other ideas of what could be the problem ... I would change the thermostat ... but remember I live in a area that runs over 100 degs a lot of the year and to change one on a diesel is not easy like a old car
Thanks for any help

Sounds like your thermostat may be stuck open. What is the temperature guage reading inside the truck? Do you happen to have infrared non-contact thermometer (available at Harbor Freight - http://www.harborfreight.com/catalog...rared+temp+gun) to check the temperature of the inlet and outlet radiator hoses?

Yep, thermostat stuck open, and probably an air bubble in the heater core. They are a pain to get out.....

welcome to DF

if the temp gauge is reading low, its the t-stat. get a high quality Super-Stant in stock temp range of 195.

if you are lucky and don't break any bolts, you can change it w/o removing anything else. someone asked that question just the other day. i'll look for it.
here it is
