Default Hub Bearing and axle shaft

Gents,

I lost an outer U joint this weekend on my '95 4WD. After pulling the rotor, etc, getting the axle hub nut off and removing the three hub to knuckle bolts, I am not able to get the axle out or for that matter, get anything to move. The books makes this sound like it basically falls off. Any hints on how to get it loose? I have soaked the assembly in liquid wrench since Saturday but hesitated prying on anything until I had some guidance.

THanks

Did you take the hub off after removing the bolts? The hub is what holds the axle shaft in there. A prybar and a BFH can get it off.

No, that is what is stuck. I guess I was being cautious before applying the delicate nudge of the BFH. Giving it a go tonight I guess. Found a new shaft at RockAuto for about $150.

You can use the power steering to push the hub out.

or replace the expensive 12 point bolts with sacrificial ones and beat on them with a BFH.
