Yep this one is an ez fix just don't buy the gear from the dealer, $200+ for a little plastic gear.

Here is one example. http://www.partsmike.com/store/store...on=show_detail

I am out big time like 10-15mph fast. I drive by gps speed, the gear I need is NLA at the dealer and I have yet to find a good used one. I have a couple of gears here when you figure out what you need pm me and I will see if I have the right one.

Though it's not a significant difference, I wouldn't rely too much on garmin for speed source. Ever notice sometimes how when you get to where you're going the actual point where you want to go doesn't quite match up with where the garmin thinks it's at? I believe they use an uncorrected satellite signal, which may for the most part be pretty accurate, it just won't be spot on accurate. I sell and install GPS systems on farm equipment that use a corrected signal to better determine where you're at on the planet. Corrected signal takes into account for atmospheric interference and such. There are many different accuracy's we can use in the field and an uncorrected signal is the least reliable, but good for gps in your car. In farming, they want accuracy on where they've been and haven't been in the field to save money. I'm not trying to bash garmin or your method by any means, just saying that there is a chance the speed the garmin gives you isn't spot on. If theres a big difference between the garmin speed and your speedo, id just get an average of the two, or fix your speedo to your tire size

My 97 with stock tires reads 3-5 mph high.

Chromed95, thanks for that info on GPS systems and input signals. Interesting for sure, however, I expected my speedo to be off a bit, as I've installed taller tires and have never changed the speedo pinion gear in the transfer case. Just wasn't sure how accurate they tended to be from the factory in the Dodge trucks. For example, my BMW 5 series speedo is within 1 MPH up through 100 MPH. Wasn't sure if my Dodge Ram ever had an accuracy range that close...

my 98 ram 1500 ss/t came stock with 275/60r17 tires. for the summer i have 285/60r18 tires and rims. i went through a construction zone today and my speedometer said 60 km/h and the radar said 65 km/h. i dont know what that is is mph but bigger tires make your speedometer read slower.

We use these on motorcycles. Might work on your truck? Don't see why it wouldn't but, I have not looked into it.
