Default 1996 ram steering rod

Hello,

I have 1996 Ram 1500 and I need to put a new Steering Gear in. I figure if I got that off I might as well put in the shaft that attaches to the Gear Box as well.

I don't know what it is called but it has a u-joint on each end (there is movement in each). Can anyone help me out with what the name of this shaft is called?

I looked in my Haynes and cannot find a diagram or any mention of it.

Any help is appreciated.

Tripper

Tripper, as was stated, the part you need is the intermediate steering shaft. For an accurate part diagram, download the parts and service manuals for your year/model truck from this site.

I replaced my stock steering box with a Borgeson unit, along with a Borgeson intermediate shaft. That, along with the full front end rebuild I performed, made the truck a pleasure to drive.
