Very difficult to shift 4x4

Exclamation Very difficult to shift 4x4

i have a 1996 ram 1500 slt laramie and i almost dislocated my dam shoulder trying to get the 4x4 into 4H...any ideas on what might be wrong and how to fix it?

If the shifter does not move easily, check the linkage for binding. (get under it and look while some one moves it). For most other issue, check this out, http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/repair/..._engagment.htm

if there is no linkage problem, and it requires superman strength to shift - there is something wrong with the shifter or the tcase.

try turning ignition off to shift. or shift transmission to neutral. see if either of those help.

thanks guys i shifted it while the enhine was off and it is now shifting beautifully! thanks a million

Try it with the transmission in neutral next time. Either way, you should be able to shift into 4Hi while moving. Mine does it lickity split.
