Default fuel problem 01' Ram

My Ram won't start unless I put gas in throttle body. When it is running there is a loud knocking. It stalls out when the gas I put in is used. I have plenty of tools but nothing as far as diagnostics are concerned. Any tips would be MOST APPRECIATED!
Thanks,
Jim

Does your fuel pump prime for a few seconds when you turn the ignition to the On position? If not, could be a relay or the pump. I'm thinking start cheap first if it doesn't (ie there's a relay you can swap the fuel pump relay with to test, can't remember which for the life of me though.......)

Horn relay, ASD relay, they are all the same . Swap them around and see what it does.

Go out and remove the precat o2 sensor from the cat and see what it does. Also, you need a cheap fuel pressure gauge to verify pressure. But try removing the o2 .

Default O2

Ok I'll Try that, thanks. Another question, where the fuel line connect to the fuel pressure regulator there is a weird connection that I can't @#$%@ get off. Can I cut it and use some rubber fuel line and a couple of hose clamps?

thanks again,
jim

Why would you want to disconnect at the tank? Cutting/splicing a high pressure system should be your last resort....

don't cut any lines.
rent/borrow a fuel pressure tester at your local parts store. o'reillys has them. use the test port on the drivers side fuel rail, next to the valve cover.

if none, check for 12v at the electrical connector on top of the fuel tank.
