Question Ignition bezel light not working?

Hello all, just got a 2001 Ram 3500 Laramie & the bezel light on the ignition switch doesn't work when you hit the unlock button. I have a 2000 Ram 1500 Laramie & it does the same thing. I've verified power at the plug on both. I had a 98 Ram 1500 & it worked, but I've read somewhere that Dodge stopped "lighting them up" after 98?? I read a thread on another site about a guy upgrading his Durango to get his light to work. Anyone know of a post on here about this "highly important problem" I've searched all over but haven't found anything. Also on both the 2000 & 01, there are only 2 pins in the plug, but it's slotted for 4. The Durango guy, put 2 pins in his & 2 extra wires & tied into his courtesy light. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I'm hoping it's not a CTM deal, otherwise I'm over it & will move on to something..actually important. It drives me crazy I can't figure out why both don't work. Thanks

Gonna try & post a pic of the 97 ram ignition switch WITH 4 wires on the little grey plug. Both my trucks only have 2 wires/pins & not 4. Does anybodye have a two pin plug on their ignition switch & have a working bezel light?

hope that works

My 98(basic package) did not ,and neither does my 2000(SLT) have a lighted ignition switch. Maybe only the Laramie or better package come with it.

My 98 SLT has one, dunno if my sister's 99 ST has one, but her 97 SLT does have one.

I know at least on the 98 I had. The socket was there for the bulb, but the pink wire that supplies the power was non existent. I'm sure it would be a very easy mod, if one wanted to look in the service manual and add that wire.

Thanks all for the replies. I think I just don't want to believe that Dodge would put the bezel & light bulb in there & not intend for it to work. I've been through the factory manual & I can't find anything about the bulb part, checked the index for lamps, ignition, & even tried to the figure out the wiring diagrams. On my 2000 Ram, I went to the junkyard & bought an ignition switch (can't remember if it had 4 wires on the plug of the donor truck & to be honest I don't think I looked) w/ keys & tried that one, sure that it was a bad switch on my truck,...same thing. I just don't buy that 3 ign switches are bad & am giving more credence to the 99 & above yrs not being lit from the factory. Thanks for you comments & time on this major issue!

The pink wire a referred to was not in one of the other plugs. It came out of the harness and went directly to the bulb.
