Default MOTOR FIRE!! need some help with repair

Ok guys long story short my wife was driving the truck and it caught on fire! She and my daughter are fine. Now I am trying to start putting it back together.

The main problem I have run into is that the plastic line that connects the 2 sides of the fuel rail melted. Can this be replaced with injector line or does the entire rail need to be replaced?

Does that line on the back of the fuel rail go bad? The reason I'm asking is because it looks like that is where the fire started. My theory is that is where it leaked and the distro or hot motor provided the ignition source for the fire.

I've not heard of any kind of regular failure on the fuel rails.

You could probably get a complete fuel rail from the JY pretty cheap.

its not really known to go bad but i have seen some that have a little crack start to develop. i would pull a rail from a jy or buy a new hose and maybe put a wire loom over it.

Fuel injection hose should do the job fine.

My dad's camry caught fire in traffic some time ago, a guy in a delivery truck had an extinguisher and saved the car. Everything plastic and rubber had to be replaced, that was a fun job as it was an older car with lots of vacuum lines all over. I now have an extinguisher with me everywhere I go.

My engine had caught fire in my Jeep its the 5.9 i was using brake cleaner to check for vacuum leaks and poof it went up ina ball of fire.. thankfgully it was only in flames for a few minutes before my water hose put it out lol. Only some vacuum lines melted..

Anyway to answer your question cant you just go to the store and get some fue line hose to replace that rubber line between the rails that your talkin about.. They sell them in all autoparts stores

The reason I was asking is because it's actually plastic from the factory. The service manual says not to put any clamps on the fuel rail and that the fuel rail is not repairable.

Has anyone actually replaced the line? I don't want to crack the rail and cause another fire!

97 equals plastic fuel rail (unless you changed it) . Not sure if the crossover line will work on a steel rail?
