Default regear labor quote

I have been quoted $900 labor to do both axles at a local shop since mine is a 4x4 which is better than what I thought. The shop has a good rep for setting up rearends so I didn't feel like that was too bad. It'll be worth it to have the 4.56s

Shiet, $900 for both axles? That's great. Most times it's closer to $1500.

Where do you live? lol

Just my opinion but I wouldnt attempt to do it by myself without someone else thats done it before.. There is nothing cheap about doing gears in any kind of way.. If you can find a good 4x4 shop have them do it.. That way if there is any issues they are liable for it.. Been there done that.. You need a master install kit along with your R&P.. Potentially a new carrier also depending on what your stock gears are.. I was quoted 600 per axle.. That was parts and labor..

I hope they have gold-plated tools, and measuring equipment good to .0000000000001" accuracy for that kind of money....... Used to do them for 300 bucks an axle when folks brought their own parts..... and we only charged that much because they were "fun" to do....... (yes, that is sarcasm. )

$300 an axle!!?? Dang! well I guess everything is bigger in texas including the pricetag ha ha. I'm in Abilene. I was figuring itd be more like $6-700 per axle from asking other people around. I have 3.92s stock. Im also putting in a Detroit locker because I already had one of the clutch pack retainer clips break. Luckily it went straight to the magnet and not into the gears. I put my lift on and can turn a wrench but no way in hell would I ever attempt something like this lol. Maybe I'll shop around some more but I thought that was a "fair" price as it is no cake walk to set up even if you do it everyday. I am getting the master install kits, with Timken bearings. I've got rp in it now and have had good luck so ill stick with it. anyone seen those crush sleeve eliminator kits?? Yukon makes em. Just wondering if anyone had bought it. It's only like $25 so I thought why not?

I bought a Ratech solid spacer for my 9.25 about a year ago for ~$17. Price may have gone up. Don't remember where I got it though, maybe Summit.
