Default 98 1500 5.9 popping noise -rear end

Hi everyone I am new to this site I just bought a 98 1500 with 5.9l in it as I was driving it home I heard a popping noise that sounded like it was coming from the back so I had both u-joints replaced and the rear seal the noise is still there its really bad if i take off quick and the stop it kinda bangs into a lower gear then the noise is there. Any Idea's of what It could be ? I need all the help I can get Thanks alot

does it get louder when you turn or go over large bumbs? i had a similar sound and it turns out its my leaf springs clanking... thers TSB on it... TSB 02-04-00 to be exact. go to http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2000/02-04-00.htm and itll explain symptoms and fixes... hope this helps... btw easy fix if thats the problem

I crawled under the truck and had my dad put in and out of drive and reverse and my drive shaft was jumping pretty good and loud also when I slow down when the tranny starts to down shift it slams into 2nd pretty bad any ideas?????

loose u bolts bad broken or loose tranny mount. i dunno if like the pinnion bearings would cuase this... possible but not sure...
