help on fuel pump

Default help on fuel pump

1996 ram 1500 5.9L-26gal tank==fuel pump quit-purchased new online @buyautoparts.com-dropped into tank and realized wiring wrong-pump harness has 4 leads and truck harness has 6 leads--and none of the colors on sheet listing different wiring combinations match actual colors on truck harness--am lost as to what to connect to what--fuses and relays also replaced--could use some help!!

Any chance you ordered the wrong year part or they sent you the wrong part?

Might could take the new one to a local auto parts store and ask to compare it to one of their pumps for your truck, see if the wiring is similar or way off...

If I remember correctly my replacement pump on my 96 had a pigtail adapter on it, sure you did not have one in the box or did it show one on the intruction sheet?

^^^ That would be right, from my understanding its a 96 only thing. The new pump should have come with one of these.

thanks to all who responded--vendor is sending pigtail adapter o'nite--was not included with pump--will let you know how it turns out....
