Default 98 1500 Trans issue

I have a 98 1500 2wd. Yesterday my overdrive shut off on its own and would not turn back less than a minute later the trans temp light came on. I was on the interstate at this point so I pulled off at the next exit. I checked the fluid level and even smelled it. I didn't notice anything wrong there. I then tried touching the trans pan. It was not hot. It was just beyond comfortable to the touch. I decided it had to be a temp sensor and figured I could get home. I got about 1/4 mile headed back to the interstate when it stopped moving. If I let it sit for a minute it would move again but not for long.

I'm thinking I might have a blocked line somewhere and when I let it sit the fluid drains back down so I can move again for a minute. I ended up getting it towed home and now I just have to figure out where to look. Any ideas?

PS I deleted the check valve on the cooler line about a year ago. and about the same time had the overdrive rebuilt because a snap ring had broken.

Drop the pan and see what ya got in it. Check the harness inside as well. Might need to replace gov switch/transducer and gov solenoid. Also check external main plug.
