Question Rear end Swap.

Got a question........Will an 02 or 03 Dodge Ram 1500 rear end, work in a 1997 with the same gear ratio????????

Nope. Same diff, but the spring perches are further to the outside of the axle than on the 2nd gen Rams.

If it is just a matter of spring perches? You could pick some up from any off road shop I would think and any weld shop could install them? Am I missing something else? Just curious. If he is getting a great deal or maybe even free, I would think it could be cost effective? You could also pick the right one up at a wrecking yard and save the hassle.

The point I was trying to make is that it is not just as easy as dropping it in. You need to modify it off the truck before you can install it.

So technically, no, it won't work. Not without modification.

Thanks for the info. The rearend was a good deal. Junk yards around here want 400.00 for a rearend.This one was only 225.00. Guess I will keep looking.
