Looking for new exhaust for my '99 5.9L. I am looking for both performance and sound improvement. Just looking for opinions......what will give me the most bang for the buck? thanks

I've posted this before but this is how my 2001 5.9l sounds with dual 40series single in dual out flowasters. You can get a couple off ebay for 150 or even cheaper. The magnaflow is cheaper but in my opinion flowmasters sound better. Listen to this.

I have been doing similar research about an exhaust for an 01 1500. From what I have read, if you are looking for low price, you can't beat flowmaster. I have found complete cat back systems by flowmaster, including tips for $179. Magnaflow prices are alot higher. Performance seems to be a matter of differing opinions, some say flowmaster increases performance more and others say magnaflow increases performance more. There doesn't seem to be a clear cut favorite. For longevity of system life, magnaflow usually comes out ahead. Finally, sound is also a matter of opinion. There are some web pages out there with audio clips of different rams with different exhaust setups. Go to this link http://media.putfile.com/Timothy_trucksounds43 and you can hear what a 318 with flowmaster 40 series delta flows sounds like. It takes a while to load but gives a fairly good idea of the sound you can expect much better than the clips on the flowmaster web page.

I went with the Magnaflow on my truck. I love the sound of it.
I think it really comes down to what sound you really like.
Go to the Flowmastr and Magnaflow web pages. They have sound clips of there exhaust systems on different vehicals.
Buy what sounds best to you.

if you are not going to do alot of mods then i would go with flowmasters but if you are planning to do alot of mods to the truck then magnaflow is the way to go. You don't have the redneck sound but they are quiet down low but uptop they scream beautifully. I love the way they sound on my jeep and also on my roomate's cobra. Plus you don't have to worry about drone with the magnaflows.

I like my Flowmaster and would go with another one but it seems to be personal preference. I wouldn't mind mine slightly louder though. Mine doesn't sound as loud as that video. Mine really isn't loud inside the cab at all but is fairly loud outside the truck. What that thing sounded inside is about what mine sounds outside of it as mine idles loud but doesn't seem to get real loud on the gas plus at 60 or so you can't really here it over the tires unless you get on the gas hard then it isn't loud. I don't know what series I have but I do have friends with ones that are quieter.

flowmaster, magnaflows have a good deep tone at idle but you can harldy hear them any other time unless you got your foot slammed to the floor. i had a magnaflow on for about a month and then i went right to flowmaster and was much happier. although obviously not enough because i felt the urg to get a cut out
