He has already done that.

man said he had a bad trans before parking it...

wonder if there is a spray around the t/c?

if so, the flexplate could be coated, and the ckps not reading... or, simply rusted the dang thing up to where the ckps isn't reading enough of the pick-ups, so it hovers around 1200rpm's, or the last known 'good' map..

I tried with O2 sensor removed (plugged in) also tried unplugging sensors (each O2 and TPS ) one at a time to see if that changed anything. I have also thought that the messed up transmission might have an effecton how the truck runs. The spray you talk about, would that also cause a leak? As of now I have no transmission leaks.

Today I ran the truck with a vacuum gauge. On start-up vacuum was about 14” and slowly dropped to 1”. The truck is running much worse now. Seems like I have restrictions on the exhaust side (cat). With the way the cat is made how have people cleaned them out? I would like to try this route before I buy a replacement. Thanks again. When I get this repaired I can start working on the transmission, wow what fun. I am sure I will be back with more questions. Thanks again for all the help.

Just cut it off, if it runs good get a new one (magnaflow). And then fix the plenum(which is most likely why it's bad). Might not be anything wrong with the tranny.

I have a rattle in trans (flex plate or torque converter). Do they have a history of failing? When trans started acting up it acted like a manual and you were pushing the clutch in and out under acceleration. Not really slipping but completely disengaging, fluid looks good and does not smell burnt. I will at least drop the pan and look for damage. But thats after I get it running

Get it running first, but I agree you should pull the pan and see what it looks like in there. Also pull the starter and see if it isn't just the inspection plate installed wrong or bent. Should be able to rotate and check TC bolts and if flexplate seems loose or is cracked.

I could be very wrong here but have you checked your spark plugs?

I have a 2000 and a while back I was accelerating from a red light and noticed i was going very slow, looked at the tach and noticed i could not get the rpms over 1800

I had no clue what was wrong and tried every test mentioned here with no change, I figured the only thing i didn't touch was the spark plugs. I went to autozone and picked up some stock spec champions put them in and what do you know the truck was back to normal.

10,000 miles before this happened, I changed out the plugs and wires but this time put in some ngk v power plugs, Well i guess my truck did not like them as i only got 10,000 miles out of them before they had to be changed. Now to this day i will not run anything but champion or autolite

Not saying that this is your problem but it has happened to me. $18 in plugs is way cheaper than a $90 universal magnaflow cat or even fuel work

The slipping could be the TV cable. Mine acted the same way. I adjusted it and it was noticeably better but not perfect. Talking to everyone on here, the general consensus was the plenum gasket. I had a couple of symptoms but not all. Rattle that sounded like the transmission was actually the inside of my cat rattling around. Burned 7 qts of oil coming back from Oklahoma City pulling a 2000 lb boat. It didn't want to pull it very good. I decided to tear into it just to discover that there was a 3" section of the plenum gasket was completely gone. Just something for you to consider. Good luck.

Well I finally had time to work on the truck again. Was going to just cut out the cat but, seems some one borrowed my saws-all. Decidedt to drop the exhaust at the manifolds. Well it is a plugged cat, runs fine. Now I guess it is time to move on to the transmission. Thanks again for all the help. I would still be playing with the fuel and ignition if not for the help received here!

I would still go and do the plenum repair. That could be the cause of a bad cat and the symptoms that your transmission is showing.
