Cruise Control Problems
Hello,
I have a 98 Ram 2500 (not the 98.5). I had it in the shop about a year ago, it was placed on the scanner and an issure was found with the cruise control switch. The mechanic said that he cleaned the switch but if it continues to give you problems the switch will need to be replaced. Fast forward to last week, the switch started giving me problems. The light comes on but the cruise will not activate. (I realize this could be more than the switch but I thought I would take a stab in the dark and replace the switch. OFF TOPIC- I am also having electrical issues with the trans going in and out of lock-up, I realize this can be many many things but noticed without the cruise switch installed it went away).
The part number for the switch is 56021333 (no longer available). I purchased a new Mopar switch from ebay, the part number is 5602133AB, thinking this would fix the problem. After installing the new switch the "CRUISE" light on the dash will not turn on. I then re-installed the old switch and it still turns the "CRUISE" light on. Is there a reset that needs to be done or is this possibly the wrong switch? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Disconnect negative battery cable before replacing or cleaning anything electrical. That will also reset PCM while you perform the work. Also check ALL your vac lines, the CC vac line runs to the servo motor under the battery tray. Common problem. There are other things it could be, but might as well start with that.
