Default where da power?

I have a 98 ram 1500 with the 5.2. I have noticed lately that low end power is off. the motor is weak till about 2000RPM then takes off like a raped ape!!! any ideas what this is?

its normal. you drive a 5k+ pound truck... what more do you want?

i could give you a list of power adders if you want to spend 3500+!

Check the timing chain. Put a socket on the crank bolt and move the crank back and forth, you'll be able to feel how much slop there is in the chain.

I will check the chain. also if you guys waht to post a list of bolt on performance stuff that would be great!!! thanks!

I highly suggest you do a search here on DF. There is tons of info on this very topic. And btw, read the plenum thread before wasting money on useless upgrades. Like it or not, it needs to be addressed first.

Gotta go back to the Dodge dealership and pickup that optional horsepower that is usually left on the showroom floor. Most people don't pick up the extra power when they buy their car, so there should be plenty laying around.

this by far if you want your truck to have power!
Dub you should also add a throttle body spacer to that list

I know for a fact chrome doesn't make it go faster....it weighs mine down!!
