Default Big time A/C leak

It's leaked out slowly since i got the truck about 5 years ago. The other day there was not enough to kick the compressor on, so i added of that dye and was going to attempt to find the leak. After adding that can i sat in the cab where the air smelt like the can i just added. I could hear liquid/oil, leaking from in the dash so i take it my evap core is toast..

My question is this, is this a project I should tackle or take it somewhere? I did not see a diy here on this. There is still pressure in the lines but not enough to run the compressor. About the only thing I can't do is pump the remaining freon and what not out of the system to put a new core in.

OR, is this a good excuse to get a new ram?

Take it somewhere and have it evacuated.

Look for the Heater Core DIY. Change that while you are in there. Read the procedure a few times, also check the service manual available for download in the faq section. Decide from there if you want to try and tackle this job.

If you decide to do this, take LOTS of pics.
