Default gauge cluster doesnt work now

so i got this bright idea to take my gauge cluster out. cause my CEL and ABS lights are always on so i was gonna take it apart and put black tape on the backside of the gauge cluster.... i pulled the needles off very carefully and the carefully pulled the gauge faces off and taped over where the cel and abs light shined threw... and put everything back together now the gagues are all off and the speedo goes to 60mph when you start it and the tach dont work gas gague oil psi and batt volts are all not working as well... did i just totally mess up my gague cluster? and is buying a used one a smart idea

i need help please

could the needles not be snapped in? letting the shafts rotate.

what you tried should be workable, as people have done this to change their gauge faces. just take it back out and try again.

Why not diagnose and fix the cel and abs problems? They are both rather important . You could have also just pulled the bulbs. Too late now obviously. You could try removing the clear plastic leaving the rest of the panel in the truck. Start it and move the needles to as close to the correct positions as possible. There is also a gauge cluster diagnostic test you can perform, but I'll be damned if I can find it right now.
