Default Glasspacks or Flowmasters?

Alright guys (and lady)
got tired of that bullsh*t bolt on i did a few weeks ago... leaking and falling apart and being too close to my new procomp shocks... SO!!!! i bought me-self a nice brand new hobart gassless welder and been practicing since ive been home... just odered my Edelbrock shortys ceramic coated from summit.. im using my existing y pipe .. cutting off the stocker cat and getting a magnaflow highflow. now what should i do after the cat? get 1 inlet 2 outlet flowmaster 40 like i got now (thats trashed.. gotta get a new one) happy with the sound. or should i get a glasspack (or 2) im gonna run the pipes back over the axle then dump them at the corners of the box. with 4 inch ehco tips but tucked up under the bed so you cant see my exhaust... buddy of mine has a 16 ton pipe bender and a 2 1/2 inch die his letting me borrow ... im using 2 1/2 inch piping all the way through unless you guys think i should go bigger or smaller...lemme know what you guys think

I would definately go with flowmasters and instead of just one install two 40series single in dual out flows. This greatly helps the performance. don't worry about installing any pipe after the flows just leave 2-3" of pipe straight out from the inlets. Glasspacks? Why spend that much money on heads and that much effort remplacing the cat when glasspacks will hurt the performance? Most of my buddies that have had glasspacks put on their truck have all noticed a loss in hp and gas milege. They even claimed that their truck ran better with the stock muffler before the glasspacks were installed. Just my 2 cents. -Tyler

yea im leaning towards the masters.... but im gonna want to run them to the back mainly b/c i had dumps right under the bed and it was so damn loud in the truck ... dont get me wrong... sounded great.. but ALL the time... and i bet if i end up with 4 outlets i could make one mean lookin exhaust... itll just get a little $$$$$ no worries... ill think ill go with that... 2 1/2 inch sound about right? happy medium... 2 1/4 a little small and 3 inch kinda nuts

2.25's is what you'll want. 2.5's will drop your low end torque and hurt your gas milage...

hey wait... you didnt mention what truck you have... 4x4? std cab, qd cab? that will also make a difference.

I talked with "the Fastman" Dan Arcand about this - he said that 2.25's out of the dual outlet muffler is better than 2.5's , with a 5.2 motor. Fuel injection needs a little backpressure to operate efficiently. I have 2.5's, it is big time loud but only helps power and torque at high rpm's - which my truck rarely ever sees. I have to replace it soon anyway, (rusting out), so I'm going with a Flow and 2.25's with 3.5 tips out the back.
