Need help with a lift kit
Alright, so I currently have 33x12.5" tires with just a 2" suspension/leveler on the front. I have no problem clearing whatsoever. I'm wanting to upgrade to either 36s or (preferably) 37s. They're military tires and the width will remain 12.5". 4 Wheel Parts, (which I have used before with my truck) says that in order to clear 37s I'll need a 7" skyjacker kit.....which costs $5,000 with instillation. There's got to be a better way, could I combine body and suspension so that way I'm not paying so much? I've been wanting to lift my truck to these tires for awhile now and I thought it's time I come here and ask the pro's.
My truck's a 1995 Ram 1500 5.2L V8

Welcome to Dodgeforum.com first off! Theres alot of info on this subject posted already, go to the search bar and do some searches and you'll find all the info you could want.
If your gonna get that big of tires, you'll definitely want to upgrade gears to 4.88 for that big of tire, might be able to do it with 4.56. Im gonna assume you have stock 3.55 gearing in your diffs, these gears are to high and will stress your drive train to death and make your truck move like a slug with those tires, lower gears will get you moving quicker and be much less stress on the drive train. Assuming its stock, you may also want to upgrade axles as well, 60's (2500 axles) would be able to deal with the tire size easily where as our half ton axles would be under alot of stress and go through components rather quickly. Not sure on lift but 7" I think is the magic number for 37's, not sure what the best way to do that is though that will work properly.

yes 6-7" is about right for 37s. people do run them on a dana44 but if your gonna wheel it yes, it will be better off have a dana60 swapped in. as far as the lift, do what i did. this is what i had.
3" coil spacers on front
3" lift coils on front
3" lift blocks for the rear
3" body lift.
additional items you will need.
6" lift brake lines
longer control arms for 3" lift.
3" drop pitman arm- i have a brand new one in box ill sell
3" drop track bar mount- i have a brand new one in box ill sell
3" lift sway bar links
hope this gets you somewhere. you can buy a 5" lift kit for like 700ish and install it urself, or pay like 500 for someone else to do it. but then you might rub, so u will still need the body lift to clear.
try www.topguncustomz.com thats where i got pretty much all my parts.
PM me if your interest in those parts i have. but if you decide to just get the kit they will be included.
