Default Rear speed sensor

My rear output speed sensor is only 6 months old and I think it quit working the other night. It's rained here for the last 2 days. The day before yesterday I was leaving work and the ABS/BRAKE lights were on. Then last night I drove through a shallow puddle and my speedometer quit working. Are those things really that sensitive or does it sound like I got a defective one? Is there a way to maybe seal it up so that when it rains or snows I don't have to replace it? Could it still be good and just need dried out? Like I said, it's only 6 months old. I wouldn't think that it would go bad so soon but what do I know
Thanks in advance.

might of got a bad one who knows man, i doubt lettin it dry would fix it. when u install the new one, put a little rtv on the lip to seal it. they should go out that easy, i mean look at everything offroading.

Okay so I'm a dumb a$$. I just went outside to go pull it out since it has a LLW, I was just going to take it back and get a new one. Apparently the plug broke and it came un-hooked. I should have checked it out before posting on here . Thanks again
